Demna, the future is now

His name is on everyone’s lips. It represents the other half of the sky. What the glossy world of luxury usually hides away. Demna Gvasalia named his brand “Vêtements”, simply: clothing. He explored the world of banality and transformed it into an icon of the fashion system. Demna presented his collection during Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, and it was an event. A way to interact out of the box. Exhilarating. His vision of dressing belongs to reality, to everyone’s daily life. He called his fashion show, “Stereotypes”: the fast-paced secretary in her tiny tight suit, the upitty Milanese in her fur coat since, besides last minute trends, we all belong to a group, even though the subject disturbs our individualism. Demna is also the Creative Director for Balenciaga, a brand with a legendary history, which he paid homage to with several haute couture dresses. Ergo, the models wearing tags with a number, like it was customary to do when Cristobal was around.
