The new British Fashion Council’s Encyclopedia of Fashion

The BFC, in cooperation with Google’s Arts & Culture Division, has launched a digital educational platform dedicated to nothing else but fashion made in the UK.

The new digital encyclopedia was launched in London, coinciding with the Fashion Awards. This non-profit initiative aims at telling the history and heritage of British fashion by focusing the spotlight on designers and personalities that have marked its evolution. The platform is developed through videos, exhibitions, and online content and aims to narrate the journey of historical brands like Burberry, Vivienne Westwood, Paul Smith, and Stella McCartney joined by emerging brands like Erdem and J.W. Anderson. Along with the content, a special mention should go to the archive material provided by maisons or popular figures like Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, and Christopher Bailey. The platform, which supports the BFC’s Education Foundation, can be surfed via laptop, mobile device, and the Google Arts & Culture app.
