Maria Grazia’s flared skirts

Among Maison Dior’s codes, creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri chooses two basic garments: the flared skirt and the jacket from the famous Bar Suit. In Christian’s days, during the immediate post-war period of the last century, it was not easy to find fabrics, but he succeeded and used 20 meters of fabric to make his full flared skirt. The jacket, instead, was like a small cage made of strategic padding and had a rounded basque that softened the hips and created that feminine figure which was a must for that era, but Maria Grazia reread and reassembled everything to embody a contemporary expression.
