The new haute couture collection by Marella Ferrera express all the grace and beauty of a butterfly that flutters in air and creates a light dance. Elegance and sophistication without rival. Color and suavity combine with architectural forms in chiffon that create vibrant and suggestive effects when reflecting light. Graphic designs are expressed in geometries with a trace of antiquity. Flowers – those that grow in her beloved Sicily, imbued with scents and colors only that island is able to impart – appear on gauze and voile. Lepidopterans are embroidered, recreating a secret garden where nature reigns supreme. Past and future suddenly disappear, and only beauty, wonder, and amazement remain, while the butterfly is incarnated in a dancer that twirls incessantly in a magical reality. With her deep ties to her homeland, Ferrera is an all-round artist who loves experimenting with and introducing new materials to her creations, such as lava stone, obsidian, and terracotta, so much so that she has been defined a “fashion experimenter”. Her fashion house in Catania is a true hotbed of ideas. After more than twenty years – driven by curiosity, intuition, and imagination – each collection represents a challenge that the designer faces always with the same passion and with extraordinary craftsmanship, accompanied by the most advanced technologies. The art of couture is a way she expresses her creativity. Something that grows and develops as she taps into Sicilian traditions, which represent her main source of inspiration. She revisits and studies the past, while considering the present a canvas on which to paint new Mediterranean poems.
