The best one: Lineapelle

A trade show that originates nationally and, over the years, becomes the fulcrum and the international reference for the entire segment of the leather industry

The 2017 Spring-Summer Lineapelle opened with the participation of well-known figures from the Italian fashion system, and it is through their viewpoints that we want to present this edition of the world’s leading leather trade fair. This event is a worldwide catalyst for quality, competence, creativity, and internationalization when it comes to leather goods. The decision to move the fair to Milan, in the Rho Fiera zone, and overlap it with the same dates as Milan Fashion week, has greatly increased the influx of international buyers, making this event essential for every sector operator. Riccardo Monti – President of the ICE (National Institute for Foreign Trade), Carlo Capasa – President of the National Chamber of Fashion in Milan, and Fulvia Bacchi – Head of Communications of Lineapelle, introduce us to this new era for the fair.

Riccardo Monti, President of the ICE, believes that: primarily, Italy but, specifically in the sector, Lineapelle, possess the domain of technology and creativity that, in our country, is explosive by nature. The Lineapelle events abroad will never be an alternative to Lineapelle Italy because locally is where the real know-how can be found. Large industry-leading trade fairs such as this are increasingly becoming a reference point, and ICE made arrangements to sponsor these events and have the Italian market reflourish abroad. It is committed to bring together these great events through announcements and sponsoring them abroad so as not to only support the Italian market, but actively develop it in other markets, as well. For this purpose, an important welcoming event is also being created for foreign buyers who want to become familiar with the Italian market.

Carlo Capasa, President of the Chamber of Fashion, believes that the fulcrum is “Creating a System”: promoting the Italian product by creating a “System”, therefore, being able to bring together all the industry sectors into one big element that coordinately moves in the same direction. Innovation and collaboration between fashion and accessories can bring the whole Italian system to grow strongly. The global market needs Italy to be one big market of quality. A return to producing in Italy is proof of this. Foreign designers are producing in Italy because only here are they guaranteed to achieve a quality product that is also creative. We are good at producing and maintaining these two elements unaltered, if not amplified. The union between Lineapelle and the Chamber of Fashion is one of these great strides that has been taken.

Fulvia Bacchi, Director of Communications for Lineapelle: Lineapelle is promoted abroad with the sole purpose of bringing the trade fair brand across borders and continents, consolidating clients and proposing courses aimed at offering information regarding the various possibilities that exist for the use of leather. The event has been able to diversify its offer through niche events: Anteprima, Lineapelle New York, Lineapelle London, Lineapelle Asia, and Lineapelle Seoul, which can be considered promotional events. Our cultural hinterland, and the great capacity to learn and to re-elaborate that we Italians have, our tanneries, machinery, and methods, only confirm how Italy fully possess the title as world leader in the leather goods sector. 110 foreign companies that participate in the fair are proof that Lineapelle has well-rooted roots in Italy.
