Kids on the Moon – A Trip to the Tatra Mountains
The Fall-Winter 17/18 Tatrica Collection by Kids on the Moon is inspired by the Zakopane style of the 19th century.
The line plays on ornaments with a particular ethnic significance: hearts, stars, tiny roses, and typical forms of cheese. The Kids on the Moon brand has admirably adapted original elements from decorative folk art to the world of children, using traditional techniques, such as embroidery or silk-screen printing. Symbols have been transformed into flying objects or mysterious signs applied where you’d least expect them. Amusing pompons give a touch of humor and good cheer, while cool colors with embroideries that recall frost add that sense of a chilly mountain winter. The ethnic feel is also present in easy, comfortable shapes with wide sleeves and high waists, with warm padding and quilting. Soft, warm fabrics include flannel, jersey, cottons, and delicate délavé denim. The entire collection was created under the careful supervision of the uniquely talented Polish printermaker and illustrator, Zuza Misko, whose work is based on classic printing methods.
