A new space entirely dedicated to contemporary circus and “to be revolutionary by playing” opens in Siena, Italy
The new BadaBam Circus School opened on October 1st in Siena in a dedicated and especially equipped space, ten minutes from the historic town centre, that offers contemporary circus courses for all ages. Rugs and fabrics to challenge gravity in the air dance lessons, balance equipment and juggling tools to overcome one’s limits, mattresses and trampolines to engage in the most varied kind of acrobatics. Because, as a matter of fact, contemporary circus is increasingly cross-pollinating with other art disciplines such as dance, music and theatre in a continuous quest that responds to its eclectic nature of being, above all, surprising. The courses offered by BadaBam Circus School are based on a non-competitive methodology and a playful participatory approach with many goals and objectives for children and young girls specifically.
The circus methodology allows to work not only on physical fitness levels but also on the cognitive, emotional and social aspects. The working in a group element, which is central to the circus arts, helps to build fundamental relational skills and to develop positive assertive communication. Playing within one’s own limits allows to being in touch with one’s emotions, to learning how to cope with failure, to develop self-esteem. Everyone can increase his or her potential by playing his or her best cards: for example, those who are stronger and bulkier can provide support at the base of a pyramid while those who are smaller and quicker can climb to the top of it. Being part of a group and expressing yourself on with either a somersault or a jump are some of the fundamental elements offered by the BadaBam Circus School, whose teachers follow as a basis of their teaching the concept of being revolutionary by playing.
