Black Eyewear: contemporary jazz-inspired glasses and sunglasses

“I wanted to rescue the bold yet simple iconic eyewear styles of the 1950’s” explains Robert Roope about Black Eyewear, the retro-inspired label he founded in 2006 after a decades long experience in selling high end designer frames.

He started with a capsule collection of just six black frames for the most loyal customers of his optician store and decided to widen the offer after a very devoted client rode his motorbike all the way from Belgium to St Albans in England to purchase all six different styles.

The main objective of the British eyewear label is “to capture something of the golden age of jazz” as reveals Mr Roope.

With a range that comprises of more than 100 different styles of glasses and sunglasses in classic colours as well as brilliantly bold tones and patterns, the goal has been most definitively achieved.
