Gucci collaborates with Yuko Higuchi

The Tokyo-based artist is famous, especially online, for her bizarre and fantastic work-

Yuko Higuchi‘s world is populated by characters that refer to the surreal approach by Lewis Carroll in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and to the work of Beatrix Potter. Anthropomorphic rabbits, innocent youths, cats with tentacles and walking mushrooms create a childlike yet bewitching iconography that, just like in any fairytale worth its name, evokes a mysterious mood that is somewhat disturbing. Filled with oneiric allusions, Higuchi’s work is inspired by a creative approach in many ways similar to that of Gucci. The collaboration between the Japanese artist and the Italian brand is focused on the use of her images in the Spring/Summer 2018 children’s collection. The main character is a cat that appears on a wide assortment of items including pyjamas, jackets, T-shirts, dresses, sweatshirts, knitwear, hats, headbands, bathing suits and shoes. Yuko’s signature designs appear also on baby bibs and baby covers for newborns and on leather backpacks and shoppers for teens.
