Boucheron celebrates 160 years with the reopening of its historic atelier
In 1893, Frédéric Boucheron was the first of the great jewelers of his time to open a boutique in Place Vendôme. Today, for its 160th anniversary – along with the support of the Kering group – and after more than a year of restoration works, the historic Boucheron boutique reopens in the eighteenth-century Hotel de Nocé, built in 1717 and part to the list of historical monuments since 1930. An impressive endeavor that, under the guidance of architect Michel Goutal, involved the best French creative talents and craftsmen, such as internationally renowned interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon, who was able to impart a contemporary feel to the project while maintaining a tie with the historicity of the building through a game of juxtapositions between old and new in a kaleidoscope of influences. The art editor, Sinople, was given the task of selecting works of art to embellish the new structure, focusing on a collection that was able to establish a dialogue with the exhibition spaces and with the maison’s identity. An exceptional and evocative harmony of eras and styles that represents the quintessence of its spirit and summarizes its history, savoir-faire, and values, uniting all the excellence Boucheron represents, allowing its masterpieces to be imagined, created, exhibited, and sold in a single location, balanced between classic and modern, a current design, and the respect for a glorious past. To honor this unprecedented event, a limited edition collection of 26 “Vendôme” bracelets in yellow and white gold was designed, inspired by the emerald cut shape of the celebrated Parisian square, in recognition of Maison Boucheron’s 160th anniversary.
