Disney x Coach: a dark fairytale
A subversive take on classic children’s stories
The Disney x Coach collection is truly a kind of black fairytale, as well as a subversive take on iconic classic children’s stories. Created and developed for the Pre Fall 2018 season, the collection exudes a romantic aura from both the ready-to-wear and leather goods ranges. Mainly because of the unexpected new contexts for the iconography motifs borrowed from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and from Sleeping Beauty such as oneiric dark castles, poisoned apples and huge-eyed forest creatures. The collection plays with the darker and more avant-garde side of Disney through sturdy motorcycle jackets and retro-inspired T-shirts with rock’ n’ roll features in a colour palette marked by nostalgia. The typical Coach touch is enhanced by darker graphics and leather details that create utterly surprising juxtapositions.
