La Mode Retrouvée. An exposition about the Comtesse de Greffulhe

Personally I am a great fan of Marcel Proust (maybe fan is not the right word to use with one of the greatest authors ever) and never have I thought to find a real version of one of his best carachters. La Mode Retrouvée, the exhibition taking place from November 7 until March 20,  2016 at the Palais Galliera in Paris, tells the story of the Comtesse Greffulhe. She was the cousin of Robert de Montesquiou and was immortalized for posterity as the Duchese de Guermantes, one of the most incredible carachters in the history of literature thanks to the genius of Marcel Proust who depicts her charm in À la recherche du temps perdu. She was considered of the most beautiful women in Paris, she owned a salon in her hotel particulier in which she received the Paris intelligentsia. She founded the Société des grandes auditions musicales and she turned charity work into public relations. This portrait shows the charm of this aristocratic lady and her wardrobe was as wonderful as her life. Her dresses in tulle, gauze, chiffon and mousselines, kimonos, velvet coats, eastern motifs, golden and silver shades, green and pink are just few of the particulars that let us catch her charm. She chose gowns in the right way to emphasize her slim waist andher slender figure. The pieces on display at the Palais Galliera are (among them) by Worth, Fortuny, Babani and Lanvin, coats day dresses, indoor clothes along with accessories, portraits, photographs and films telling us how the lost time can be traced back in fashion.
