The unconventional, nebulous atmosphere of the Palace – the famous Parisian night club that, in the late seventies and mid-eighties, was the crossroads for artists, designers, and fashion icons – is revived on the runway of Gaultier couture. Pajama-like sets, tuxedo jackets over sequined dresses, men’s shirts mixed with ultra-feminine pieces, transparencies, chains, and that “So Gaultier” air impressed in everyone’s memory. Models with cigarettes and flutes of champagne, to reminisce of good times gone. A melancholy blissful decadence. Jean-Paul has always taught us that fashion is seduction and stupor, but above all… it is fun.
