Luna Rossa Challenge sails towards the 36th edition of the America’s Cup with new uniforms signed by Prada

The America’s Cup trophy, the oldest and most important for world sailing, is preparing for its 36th edition with the return of Luna Rossa Challenge in competition, led by Prada‘s President Patrizio Bertelli, in partnership with the main sponsor Marco Tronchetti Provera and Pirelli, and Max Sirena, skipper and team coordinator.

 

In Auckland (New Zealand) on 2021, after qualifying in the Prada Cup, renamed title of the Challenger Selection Series , Luna Rossa Challenge wants to write History, win the trophy and become the ‘Defender of the next edition.

 

The ‘Luna Rossa’ dream was born one evening, in an office near the Milan Cathedral, between Patrizio Bertelli and the argentinean yacht designer German Frers in discussion about the construction of a cruise boat. Suddenly German Frers asked: “Why do not we do the America’s Cup?” Thus a ew time, the two sleek, elegant, silver-colored Luna Rossa boats were built, nicknamed by the New Zealand ‘Silver Bullets’, bullets of silver colour.

 

Patrizio Bertelli, inserted as first Italian in the America’s Cup Hall of Fame, has brought

part of the Luna Rossa Challenge team at the first edition of the ‘Festival dello Sport’, (www.ilfestivaldellosport.it), an event organized in collaboration between the Trentino region and Gazzetta dello Sport, in Trento, under the patronage of Coni, which joined together the leading players, among athletes, technicians and experts, of the world of sport, culture, art, fashion and media.

 

Max Sirena, Vasco Vascotto, Gilberto Nobili, Pietro Sibello, Andrea Tesei, Francesco Checco Bruni, James Spithill and, not expected, Ruggero Tita (Olympic champion of the flying sailing class) spoke about the innovative challenge of new naval architectures for boat and wings, organization and competition.

 

The super fast monohulls, equipped with ‘foil‘, those who will raise the hulls and allow it to fly on the water (almost one meter high and at a speed of 49 knots, over 70 km / h), in a sort of mix between aeronautics and aerospace science, will mount soft and performing sail wings.

 

The Red Logo of Prada Luna Rossa on the elegant silver base will sign also the new technological uniforms, athletic and performing, as result of uncompromising quality mixed with innovation, always into the DNA of Prada. To become elegant and futuristic athletes, super men who will make the difference next to the nume of technology. <BT>
