Marco Rossi is the ‘Talento per la Scarpa 2016’

The shoe designer from Umbria, Italy won the 16th edition of the international competition for young designers promoted by Sammauroindustria

This year, the footwear creative genius footwear of Italy triumphed in In San Mauro Pascoli near Forlì Cesena. The 16th edition of the international contest ‘Un Talento per la Scarpa’ was in fact won by the young Marco Rossi born in 1995 in Passignano sul Trasimeno near Perugia.

And that’s not all: among the top 10, eight participants were Italian in a overall picture where one participant in five came from across the Italian borders.

According to the jury, composed by designers of the Sammauroindustria footwear companies, the twenty-one year old Rossi was the best of the 144 participants to interpret the ‘total green’ theme of this year: ‘Vegetable Shoes: trees, shrubs and flowers for a botanical collection’.

The motivation of the jury that awarded the Umbrian designer was an “edgy and mature style for a ‘veggie style’, feminine, contemporary, experimental and aggressive collection”. Now Marco is expected to do a three and a half months training period at Cercal, the International Footwear School, and a six month internship at one of the four footwear companies associated with Sammauroindustria. Rossi is also entitled to an expense refund of € 4,000.

In second place, ex aequo, Giada Fabbri from Forlì for ‘imagination, innovation and excellent graphics capabilities for scenic and harmonious floral patterns” and the Mexican Jose Alberto Tassinari Nava for “a tasteful, creative, colourful, expressed with elegant and feminine designs, footwear range”.
