Marella Ferrera. A fashion designer, an eclectic woman, whose roots lie in the heart of her beloved Sicily, a source of poetic inspiration in every one of its corners. From its sun-scorched land, to the bottoms of its sea, and its volcanic rocks. All her stylistic developments tell of a profound and incessant passion. A “Fashion Experimenter”, as she is defined, she introduces innovative materials such as obsidian, clay, rock crystal, cork, and copper wires. Marella Ferrera’s pieces have always been a hymn to Trinacria, a faithful and picturesque fresco of its beauty and charm. Her latest collection follows the leitmotif of the gardens of the island, which recurs in its creations. Orange blossoms, the typical flowers of the orange tree, with their essence that embodies the spirit and soul of the area where they grow – Scotch broom, which only grows in the Mediterranean to which Giacomo Leopardi sang: “Odorous broom, content with the desert …”, and also fragrant jasmine. A new romanticism is depicted on dresses with precious yarns, woven artfully and worked with meticulous care. The beauty and freshness of a just-bloomed flower cannot but reflect the spirit of a young bride who is preparing for her wedding day and who looks with hope towards the future. It is in Marella Ferrera’ atelier in Catania that a team of very skilled seamstresses and embroiderers shape haute couture dresses. Refined workmanship, the result of a very ancient legacy, coupled with a modern appeal, since tradition and modernity can easily go hand-in-hand, while the latest technology follows cultural and historical references from an important past.
