Mary Katrantzou a/w 2016-17

The butterfly effect

Vivid and cinematographic, like a western directed by the great Baz Luhrmann, the magician of color. Mary Katrantzou transforms the catwalk in a jubilation of stars, hearts, and big multicolored butterflies in a game of pop colors and Texan inspired patterns. Light, billowing skirts with wide stripes and chevrons are worn with cowgirl shirts, embellished with sparkling appliqués or patchwork details. Tulle and mink are combined with tweed and wool, for a masculine texture and, then, jackets, blouses, and Nappa accessories, for a feminine, yet, invariably chic biker.
