Rick Owens: Subhuman Inhuman Superhuman

Until March 25th,  the Triennale di Milano presents Rick Owens. Subhuman Inhuman Superhuman, the first ever retrospective dedicated to the visionary stylist and furniture designer, Rick Owens, proposed and presented by the curator of the fashion department of the Triennale di Milano, Eleonora Fiorani.

For this exhibition, Rick Owens is the author of his own narrative and has curated a selection of clothing, accessories, furniture, graphic works, and publications selected among those he has created in over twenty years of his career.

Inspired by the works of artists and writers, Owens has always recognized and emphasized  moments of beauty that have often been ignored. The fulcrum of this retrospective is a sculptural installation, a work that takes up large part of the entire exhibition space. It is an earthwork  structure that combines cement, lilies, sand from the Adriatic, and the designer’s hair. A metaphor for the eternal and primordial creative impulse that drives humanity, for better or for worse.
“I wanted to take what a dismissive world might mock and create something fine, empathetic, kind, and inclusive.”
Rick Owens. Subhuman Inhuman Superhuman also presents a Limited Edition Deluxe Box Set by Electa containing text, images taken from collaborations with photographers, objects, and his unreleased civet oil and gray amber perfume.
In June 2017, Rick Owens was honored by the Council of Fashion Designers of America with a lifetime achievement award, after having already received the Perry Ellis Award for Emerging Talents in 2002. He instead received with the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award and the Fashion Group International Rule Breaker Award in 2007.

We dedicated to Rick Owens the latest cover of Collezioni Donna Summer 2018  entitled “Art Gallery”.
