“We are never subject to conventions and never stick to past achievements”. With these words Chen Dapeng, Head of CHIC and Executive Vice President of the China
National Garment Association (CNGA), perfectly summarised the approach followed by CHIC, the most important fashion platform in China. In line with this very specific approach, the latest edition of CHIC Autumn, held in Shanghai from the 11th to the 13th of October and visited by more than 65,700 fashion professionals, was characterised by new, original and innovative proposals and by a new focus on high quality debut luxury collections in order to meet the demands of the huge Chinese market, which is constantly and rapidly evolving. Following the latest directives issued from the Chinese government on the matter, Corporate Social Responsibility was also another key focus of the event as epitomised by the ‘Green Thread’ theme that inspired and permeated the entire CHIC Autumn 2017. Other important developments were the division of the 815 fashion brands by 783 exhibitions from 16 different countries (Poland, Sweden, Asia, India, Pakistan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, USA and Brazil and others) into 9 dedicated sectors such as, for example, Heritage, Secret Stars and Urban View. As well as the presence of integrated shows-in-show like CHIC YOUNG BLOOD, Shanghai Bag Expo and Preview in China, which was dedicated to South Korean exhibitors. Elegant womenswear, menswear, shoes and fashion accessories have been presented at the Italian Pavilion as well as the French pavilion “Paris Forever”. The positive response of the majority of exhibitors, provided further confirmation that the trade show formula is working. The next appointment with CHIC Shanghai is taking place from the14th to the 16th of March 2018.
