Tomas Maier says goodbye to Bottega Veneta after 17 years

The German designer, Tomas Maier,  has decided after 17 years to leave the Kering-owned luxury fashion and accessories brand of which he was at the creative helm since 2001. Bottega Veneta is the fashion house of today mainly thanks to the creative contribution of such high level by Tomas, who has brought the brand back to being an undisputed reference point in the international luxury panorama. His creative vision has magnificently enhanced the unique expertise of the brand artisans”, said François-Henri Pinault, the owner of the French luxury giant, in an official statement. Born in 1957 in Pforzheim in Germany, Tomas Maier launched his eponymous brand in 1997 in Florida. In 2013 it became a joint venture with Kering with the aim of further developing it. With professional experiences at Guy Laroche, Sonia Rykiel and Hermès, Maier arrived at Bottega Veneta with the brief of developing the brand beyond the iconic ‘Intrecciato’ woven leather bag.
