Marella Ferrera at Milan Design Week

Sicilian born Marella Ferrera has renewed her creative synergy with designer Paola Lenti during the International Week of  Design that took place in the undisputable fashion capital of the Lombardia region. Ferrera has translated and transported her Haute Couture experience of embroidery to a very romantic mood, sanctioning the traditional, a bit predictable image of the flower in a very modern reinterpretation on entirely hand-embroidered pouffes and carpets. The result is called “Spring”, springtime and buds, reaffirming a shared concept on the value and beauty of Made in Italy craftsmanship. The main motif of the flower goes through various fusions and then turns into walls and end tables. Instead, “Bloom” transforms into the chromatic explosion and refinement of symbols, as if writing a new stylistic language. As for the “Sciara” project, the glazed lava stone, which  this year celebrates its third anniversary, is enriched with new perspectives. Inspired by the depths of the sea in a whirling succession of waves and, like in a 17th century picture gallery, it creates unusual architectures. Long tops made of lava from the Etna volcano (overlooking the city of Catania), like magic, become the veining in “marble”, prompted by the polychromatic altars from the most important tradition of the Belpaese that is Italy. Marella Ferrera’s collaboration with Paola Lenti confirms itself at its highest creative level.
