Marni La Verada: artisanal cross-pollinations at the Salone del Mobile in Milano
Flushed with a thousand and one colours, La Verada, the Marni installation for the 2018 edition of the Salone del Mobile in Milan, transports us through an evocative journey in an authentic Colombian setting, without though ever forgetting the attention to craftsmanship and tradition that are important cornerstones for the Italian brand.
Las Veredas are small settlements that develop around urban areas, giving rise to small rural conurbations, within which each person is a point of reference for the entire community. Starting from Colombian traditions, the brand’s new collection of furniture and accessories is created with new techniques and materials. Made in Colombia craftsmanship is indeed the key protagonist, reinterpreted though according to the playful and experimental Marni approach. Seats are transformed into suggestive peacock tails or dreamy little birds while new loom weaving techniques create unusual PCV wefts. Among the other many highlights, the baskets created by intertwined willow branches and the bags made of colourful agave fibres. The sale of each design object and accessory is going to help finance the adoption and fostering initiative ‘La casa sull’albero’ promoted by Piccolo Principe at www.piccoloprincipe.va.it.
La Verada by Marni is located in Viale Umbria 42 from April 19th to 22nd 2018.
