Mipel comes to town

Milan dedicates a four day event to the excellence of Italian and international leather from September 3rd to 6th 2016

For the first time ever, Mipel-TheBagShow opens in the fashion capital of Milan with a series of events and appointments to be held from September 3rd to 6th 2016. The new ‘Mipel in città’ will kick off on September 3rd with a cocktail held at the Triennale, the world-renowned cultural institution that will host the award ceremony of The Icons contest. A jury made up of international buyers will judge the products on display in the Trend Area in the trade show and decide the five finalists for the following categories: ‘no gender’, ‘beautiful functional’, ‘eye catching,’ ‘timeless’ and ‘authentic natural’. The five winning items will be exposed at Noosphere XX1, a mobile evolving school, at Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti Milano (NABA), at Domus Academy, at Tsinghua University and at the XXI edition of the Triennale di Milano. During the evening the presentation teaser of Mipel 110 will be screened: it has been created by the students of the three year course of Graphic Design and Art Direction at NABA, with which Mipel has formed an interesting working relationship. The students involved were Alessandra Brivio, Martina Matiz, Elena Kratter, Luca Ganymede and Christian Pappalardo.

On September 4th instead ‘The Glamourous Night’ will be held at Darsena-Navigli, a special event with the patronage of the Municipality of Milan and the collaboration of Navigli Lombardi to celebrate the excellence and creativity of Italy. For the occasion Darsena-Navigli will be turned into a location full of magic where a musical and multimedia laser show on the water of the Navigli will create an absolutely beautiful and unique mood. Technology and nature, perfection and imperfection, fractal geometry and classical geometry are the deliberately opposing universes that will be showcased in Hall 10 of Fiera Rho-Milan. The 110th edition of the trade show refers to the basic elements of information – 0 and 1 – and to the concepts of linearity and of the perfection of opposites.

Mipel chooses as its distinctive and peculiar element the theme of nature in opposition to technology and renews its image on the basis of this antithesis. Last but not least, the show will take place in an exhibition area of 10,000 square meters, will host more than 300 companies, including well-known brands, emerging brands and trend setters, and will be visited by 12,000 buyers from around the world interested in the best creations in the field of leather goods and accessories.
