Issey Miyake for Christmas with ‘Record’, a new line of 3D accessories dedicated to big metropolis

For the Christmas season 2015, Issey Miyake unveils the new  ‘Record’ project and a new series of accessories available in twelve flagship stores in Asia, Europe, America and a specific website, www.isseymiyakerecord.com.

The new accessories are designed with fabrics whose colours were inspired by photographs of everyday scenes of some of the undisputed capitals of the world such as Tokyo, Paris, London, New York. On the dedicated website, visitors can take a virtual trip of the iconic metropolis, with original video and music content inspired by each of them and accompanied by the sounds of daily life in each of them. The site also offers a fun section where visitors can mix music.

Further evolution in the A/W 2015 collection of the 3D Steam Stretch technology which allows an unlimited number of colours to be woven through cyan, magenta and yellow yarns. The new technique is combined to Omoiiro, a colour extraction technology developed by André Alexis at Sony Computer Science Laboratories, Inc. The result of these important technological innovations is a range of accessories comprising of handbags, necklaces, vests, stoles in colours extracted from photographs of the four capitals. Besides of the undisputed chromatic beauty, the accessories carry with them a sense of familiarity, as they are imbued with the memories of everyday life of each of these iconic cities. The accessories are also distinguished by sinuous organic continuous curves. The stoles, for example, are made of 3D polygonal shapes. The main feature, however, is the combination of four colours into one that represents all the metropolis through the colour extraction process from photos of of Tokyo, Paris, New York and London.
