Francesca Castagnacci wins the second edition of the Premio Ramponi
The Florentine designer won the award edition dedicated to accessories with her dreamy and evocative but also bold and up-to-date bags
Held on Sunday, June 19th at the trade show White Show in Milan, the award ceremony of the second edition of the Premio Ramponi, this year dedicated to accessories, witnessed the victory of the Florentine designer Francesca Castagnacci.
Born from the initiative of Alfredo Ramponi, the owner of the company that has established itself in the fashion world for inventing the first synthetic crystal, the prize is aimed at clothing and accessories designers and at supporting and promoting innovative projects in womenswear by giving visibility to a designer at one of the essential and at the same time most delicate same passages of his or her career: exhibiting and selling at a trade show.
Born in the Tuscan capital, Francesca Castagnacci studied at the Art Institute and graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in jewellery design. Fully satisfying her artistic bent, she successfully stepped into the universe of fashion, winning in a short time numerous awards and starting to collaborate with prestigious fashion houses.
Her particularly visionary drawings take the shapes of dreamlike and evocative, at the same time bold and innovative, accessories and bags. Her style irresistibly attracts those in search of unique, transgressive but sophisticated pieces.
Francesca’s collection was voted the best by a panel that included Massimiliano Bizzi, founder of White, Mario Boselli, honorary president of the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, Marta Casadei, journalist at Sole 24 Ore and Moda 24, Lorenzo Galliera, editor of Nuova Libra, Alfredo Ramponi, promoter of the award and CEO of the eponymous company, and other esteemed professionals.
The Spring/Summer 2017 collection by Francesca Castagnacci continues a discourse already started on geometric quality where each detail is the interpreter of strong textures and geometries. Shapes within shapes, shells from which emerge refined and unexpected materials. The contrast wattage is enhanced by the asymmetries in the shapes, materials and colours of the bags: a soft touch is often opposed to a rigid construction, bold shades to neutral colours, the finest quality leathers like crocodile and lizard to sometimes unusual elements. Manufactured as a unique piece of jewellery, the metal accessories meet the highest quality standards such as the use of lead-free nickel alloys and treatments. A collection that speaks the language of the decisive and strong yet feminine and sophisticated women to whom it is addressed.
