Appointment at Parco Vivente
AT THE PARCO ARTE VIVENTE, THE FIRST SOLO EXHIBITION BY CHINESE ARTIST ZHENG BO
The first Italian solo exhibition by Chinese artist Zheng Bo within Artissima at the PAV, Parco Arte Vivente. With his careful analysis of the relationships that exist among plants, society, and politics, Zheng Bo, born in Beijing in 1974, is one the most interesting Chinese artists of the past generation. Sensitive to a socially committed artistic practice, since 2003, Zheng Bo has been inspired by ecology, participatory projects, and marginalized communities. His frequent use of wild plants typically found in urban environments, and that are commonly considered weeds, connects his works to political metaphors where what is unwelcome, abandoned or forgotten, becomes a substantial ecological strongpoint towards defending resistant and resilient cultures. Presented in several cities over the last decade, the weed project has taken on different names, and now, Weed Party III, arrives at the PAV. In this context, Zheng Bo investigates the relationship between the uncontrollable nature of spontaneous political movements and the infesting power of parasitic plants. The exhibition, which can be visited at the PAV until February 24th, 2019, is curated by Marco Scotini and focuses on plant species from the Piedmont area.
