“The number of visitors has been steady and higher than expected with an increase of foreign buyers”, confirms Paul Monfermoso adding “The time spent at the trade show also provided the opportunity to start thinking together with the exhibitors about the possibility of a calendar change for the next editions in view of Milano Unica’s decision to anticipate their autumn edition to July. Our decision will emerge after an overall assessment of the companies market needs within the context of a textile industry that increasingly must show a united front”.

With ‘Luxury Revolution’ as its style theme, the 46th edition of Filo was officially inaugurated with the ‘Il Filo del Design’ conference organised in cooperation with Ice-Agenzia and Sistema Moda Italy. The focus of the debate was the development and internationalisation strategies for textile companies, starting from innovation, but also from focusing on rediscovering the archives, to the promotion of the Made in Italy label.

Carlo Piacenza, President of Unione Industriale Bielles, said in his speech: “An intact and united Italian textile industry is a key competitive advantage”. Michele Scannavini, President of Ice-Agenzia, also spoke about the issue of the textile industry as a competitive advantage adding “…creativity and innovation, two features that more than anything characterise Made in Italy in the world, come to light especially in the context of the textile industry”.

Gianfranco Di Natale, General Manager of Sistema  Moda Italia, highlighted the importance of offering to companies new development and internationalisation strategies in collaboration with Ice-Agenzia, especially when it comes to small and medium-sized enterprises.
