Carla Fendi

Carla Fendi is sadly no longer with us. The most famous and recognised of the five Roman sisters who made their name famous all over the world by transforming the label founded by their parents into a global iconic cult brand, Carla had a pivotal role in Fendi’s entry in the United States market, one of the first steps towards the brand phenomenal success all over the world.

Together with her sisters, she has been an integral and active part of the globally recognised Made In Italy phenomenon since the 1980’s at a time when fashion was moving from being exclusive prerogative to Paris and Milan was assuming its role as an alternative capital of ready-to-made fashion.

After having left her position within the Maison, which is now owned by LVMH, Carla became a great patron of the arts through the Fondazione Carla Fendi that deals, above all, with  the Festival dei Due Mondi di Spoleto in Italy for which the wonderful Teatro Caio Melisso was restored at Carla’s expenses.

On June 23rd, Carla was scheduled to receive the Premio Europa e Cultura – Spazio ai Giovani award at the Italian House of Representatives.
