Christian Dior Haute Couture spring summer 2018
The history of couture is inseparably tied to that of modern art through journeys taken, dynamics experienced, and in the experimentation that is part of both. Like Surrealists from the past centur y, particularly Leonor Fini, Maria Grazia Chiuri, art director of Maison Dior lets herself go to the oneiric interpretations of a dress: a collection created with optical illusions and trompe-l’oeil, poised between a dream and reality. Corsets are shaped like cages, sugarcoated by sensually overlapping tulle and naïf polka dots. Geometries take the form of macro puzzles and pleats become like pages to browse.
