The Clergerie Spring/Summer 2018 collection is a leap into the past in order to the rediscovery of the roots and the original concepts by the designer Robert Clergerie who founded the label in 1981. The new creative director David Tourniaire-Beauciel explored the archives on a research mission in order to be able to reinterpret the brand heritage and to create new updated versions of the brand signature styles. Therefore, raffia is once again the main protagonist of the collection and to tell us once again about the story of its prominent position that it played for the brand fashion house. It was Robert Clergerie himself who understood the versatility of this natural fibre and used it to created a number of signature signature footwear style. An only apparently simple and common natural material like raffia, expertly worked in the workshops at Romans-sur-Isère in France, was transformed into a truly prestigious material, capable of making any style unique and precious. So in 2018 raffia, made more elastic thanks to the addition of cotton fibre, once again is the key material for the Clergerie lace-ups. The Jappaille style is back in vogue and reaffirms itself as a seasonal must-have item, either in a trendy blue/green combination or in an alluring combo of nuances of orange/blue/light blue.
