Couture Fashion Week continues to affirm itself as an important event in fashion
Now in its 27th edition, Couture Fashion Week, created and organized by designer Andres Aquino, continues on its journey towards affirming itself as a very important event in fashion. The Big Apple welcomes Fashion Week in an exclusive location, the Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan. Season after season, creations by select designers from all over the world are presented on its catwalk, simultaneously with parties and other related events involving art and the world of luxury. During this edition, dedicated to Spring Summer 2018, Malaysian designer Eja and Shahril, who is considered a rising star in fashion, debuted with her line, “Tun Teja”, while the Indonesian brand, JSL LeViCo, showed “The Secret Journey to East Nusa Tanggara”, handmade garments inspired by the textile tradition of Indonesia, designed by Julie Sutrisno Laiskodat. Other designers from Indonesia include Yurita Puji and Agus Lahinta who are also deeply tied to their origins in their creations. Evgenia Luzina, with “Blue Innocence”, amazed everyone thanks to her gold, white, and blue theme and, completing the look, jewellery made entirely from recycled material. The Vietnamese, Do Trinh Hoai Nam, much loved by celebrities, presented “The Golden Lotus Ao Dai Collection”, fascinating the audience with sophisticated, elegant creations. Completing the list were
Dominican born Ariel Cedeno – former theatrical costume designer, Carlos Benguigui at his first appearance – famous for his high tailoring designs, both Sara Jamaludi and Erma Fatima from Malaysia, and Rebecca Deák Justh who combined gold and silk in a harmonious ensemble for dresses that enhance femininity. Laura Spörerova, based in Amsterdam but a native of Slovakia, and Veronika Kopalova from the Czech Republic were also present along with Jelena Pirkmajer from Ljubljana who, with her brand, Cliché combines art and fashion in her creative quest. New York Fashion Week is scheduled to return in September 2018.
