2nd December 2015

In an event part of the official calendar of Milano Moda Donna Fashion Week, the new DESA NINTEENSEVENTYTWO spring/summer 2016 collection was introduced at the Hotel Carlton Baglioni’s Penthouse during a cocktail party attended by many renowned Italian and international fashion journalists including Vogue digital international editor Suzy Menkes, and New York Times Fashion Director Vanessa Friedman.
The DESA NINTEENSEVENTYTWO spring/summer 2016 collection draws inspiration from shapes and colors used by the prestigious architects, sculptors and painters who influenced the art and design of the XX century.

The DNA of DESA NINTEENSEVENTYTWO is rooted in geometrical shapes that allow the brand to present each season new, iconic and exciting models, creations that immediately become objects of desire for women who are true connoisseurs able to recognize an artisanal “beautiful and well crafted” product.
Architecture of the mid XX century is the leitmotif of the collection, which recalls the vision of great architects like Mexican Luis Barragan and his familiar totems or Gerrit Rietveld’s legendary Red Chair, which in turn was inspired by Mondrian, or the work of John Lautner, known for the unique way of working with wood and his Californian style from the ‘60s and 70s. This combination fills the collection with shapes that are at the same time decisive and smooth. The work of British sculptress Barbara Hepworth on the other hand inspires the use of geometrical organic shapes as layers.

DESA NINTEENSEVENTYTWO Spring/Summer 2016 Collection is the expression of a shape-inside-a-shape concept. Two different languages, feminine and masculine, come together in a single voice. Smooth leather becomes tough, sensual, statuesque and extremely sophisticated.
In the new Collection DESA NINTEENSEVENTYTWO communicates its admiration for all these sources of artistic inspiration, giving life to bags characterized by shapes obtained through inlay techniques that provide an extraordinary dimensionality to usually flat surfaces thanks to the use of fine leathers like ostrich, lambskin and kidskin, which is responsible for the “equestrian” feel of the Collection.
The color palette is defined through the eye of a painter who uses highly contrasting tonalities that find perfect harmony when combined. White, Black, Nude, Kelly Green, Lacquer Red, Poppy, Merlot, Sunflower, Ocean and Chartreuse, these are the stars of the Spring/Summer 2016 Collection. Both individually or combined these colors confer a strong and unique personality to each creation.
