Dior New Looks

Dream Light Water
Since its very inception, the House of Dior creations were made even more wonderful by the world’s greatest photographers. In the book ‘Dior: New Looks’ published last October by Thames & Hudson, Jérôme Gaultier celebrates the mutual rapport between fashion and photography in 1947, the year when the “New Look” was born and when Christian Dior posed for Irving Penn with a sober attitude in a strikingly modern ambient. 1947 is also the year in which the young Richard Avedon went to Paris for the first time and captured the creations of the Maison with a completely new vision. With their cameras, and those of many others, a new way of photographing encounters the new style by Christian Dior. Using the double perspective of two “new looks” Jérôme Gaultier, author, journalist and fashion photography specialist, explores the world of Dior and the “New Look”. The pages of the book show images of great photographers, telling both their artistic own journey as that of the Maison.
