Eric Tibusch, the inspiring dressmaker in China

From Paris to Shanghai via Haiti

Talented couturier with a double island soul, Corsican and Polynesian; his is a prestigious journey that began 20 years ago in Paris starting with John Galliano, passing to Jean-Paul Gaultier and Lagerfeld, to then found a fashion house in his own name that also appears in the authoritative Haute Couture calendar. However, he decided some years ago that China would be his second home. And it is right in the metropolis of Asian luxury par excellence, Shanghai, that he has opened an exclusive pop-up at Bund 22, one of the most attractive trading areas in the whole of Asia.

His is a real triumph on the international fashion and textile industry scene in China. Guest of honour in the most important Chinese cities, in November last year he took part in the much-anticipated première of Bund 22  at Shanghai fashion week. In one night only his show which presented the Spring / Summer 2019 haute couture collection – Walk in the Bund 22 – was seen by 300 million internet users online and in 3D.

The China Daily has dubbed him the “Golden hand of haute couture in China”.

The French designer finds great success on all fronts, so much so that he was invited to take part in the famous Chinese saga, the Story of Yanxi Palace, distributed in 90 countries, in which in addition to staging various couture dresses, he presents a characteristic creation in gold, metal and leather, a perfect fusion of eastern and western culture.

Eric Tibusch has produced his first prêt-à-porter collection called “see now buy now” with Dongpin and the Tencent WeChat group, and a month ago launched an advertising campaign through social networks, covering the whole of China. Furthermore, in 2019 the opening of an exclusive pop-up store also in New York and Beijing is expected. Looking forward to the Shanghai Fashion Week, Eric Tibusch presented his Autumn / Winter 2019/20 collection last March at the historical event dedicated to lifestyle, the Ideal Home show, where the main trends in Interiors and Decorative Art, technology, Fashion and Beauty are directed. Eric Tibusch is considered by the Chinese internet using population as a source of inspiration and stimulus, undoubtedly an important recognition, considering the complexities of the Asian world in continuous and rapid evolution.
