Japanese inspirations innervate the LOEWE menswear collection

A visit to Japan informs the LOEWE men’s collection for Spring/Summer 2016. Inspired by the touching visual landscape explored on his trip, Jonathan Anderson transposed it in the imaginary world of a Japanese cartoon character charged by a playful and visionary sense of escapism.

The collection consists of a wide range of functional pieces, including knitwear, jackets and pyjama-inspired sportswear. The elongated and fluid silhouette is in sharp contrast with the boxy shapes. Shirts, pants and coats take familiar forms but produce new variants. Transparent nylon reveals thin layers while textures and fabrics, including silk, linen, cotton alongside man-made materials, freely mingle and clash. Graphic patterns inspired by space and travel, such as planets and galaxies and an hand-airbrushed rocket, convey a fresh sense of adventure. The experimentation with materials, a feature of the Spanish brand, is evident in the superior treatment of the natural materials.
