Palazzo Pitti: Tracce , Fashion and Art

 Encounter and dialogue

Correspondence and contaminations among artists and couturiers from the 1930s to the present

Uffizi-39

“Traces. Artful dialogues in the Museum of Fashion and Costume”, curated by Caterina Chiarelli, Simonella Condemi and Tommaso Lagattolla, in collaboration with and featuring paintings and sculptures from the Gallery of Modern Art at Pitti Palace, emphasizes the analogies and common aspects between the creations of designers and those of artists from the 1930s to the present. An era that directly witnessed a true revolution in aesthetic and figurative codes. 107 pieces, ranging from clothing  to paintings, sculptures and accessories, are innovatively displayed and the focal point of an ideal and reciprocal dialogue. Mirrors play a key role in the exhibition, expanding spaces, multiplying light, and enhancing colors and lines. For this occasion, the new storage area of the clothing and textile collections of the Museum of Fashion and Costume, also at Pitti Palace, was officially presented to the press. This is a tangible, concrete result of the collaboration between the Florence Center for Italian Fashion, the Pitti Foundation, and  the Uffizi Galleries that, in creating new synergies, live up to the expectations of the greatest fashion museums in the world. The exhibition can also be visited through a virtual tour in the Hypervisions section of the Uffizi Galleries website.

Traces. Artful dialogues in the Museum of Fashion and Costume, Museum of Fashion and Costume at Pitti Palace –  Florence, until December 31st,  2018.
