A PERFECT SUMMARY OF THE NEW SEASON

Raise a glass to another exciting edition of Scoop

As usual, Scoop offered a comprehensive compendium of the most important trends for the upcoming Spring/Summer 2018 season. Held once again in the extraordinary setting of the Saatchi Gallery in Chelsea from July 16th to 18th, the last edition of the London trade show highlighted a specific focus on truly special and unique fabrics and materials, exemplified, for example, by Cacharel, Inès de la Fressange, Nju, Pyrus and Mercy Delta. Also noteworthy the new developments for knitwear, the numerous interpretations of the maritime theme, the references to a tropical botanical iconography as well as the floral prints, more often than not macro, photographic or with the pattern of a single flower, bud, small plant or small bouquet repeated on the whole garment. The presence of traditional handicrafts such as crochet, honeycomb and smocking evokes a romantic mood, also echoed by the choice of fabrics such as Sangallo and guipure lace, the presence of folkloric details, a propensity towards pastel tones. The palette, which includes many warm hues such as honey and caramel, is illuminated by intense flashes of red and yellow. There is also a wide variety of blue tones, from the darkest indigo to the palest chambray, alongside an entire range of shades of green. Among the over 250 brands of women’s apparel and accessories, I appreciated the avant-garde approach by Genuin Werk, the basic with interesting twists by Les Filles d’Ailleurs twist, the ethnic mood suggested by Star Mela, Le Grand Cerf and Soul Kathrin, the knits by Duffy and Mandkhai. The dates for the next appointment with Scoop are the 28th to the 30th January 2018.
