MATEA BENEDETTI:A FLAGSHIP OF SUSTAINABLE FASHION
The field of sustainable fashion was still unexplored before the fashion and costume designer Mateja Benedetti with her best friend, the graphic designer Sasa Kladnik, decided to create a brand that would bring a breath of fresh air into the world of fashion. The ethical and sustainable brand Matea Benedetti was born with the clear goal of being an agent of change and with the intent of protecting the planet and enhancing the wellbeing of its consumers, without ever forgetting those concepts, such as beauty and luxury, that define all major fashion brands. In spired by Gandhi’s words “be the change you want to see in the world”, Matea Benedetti intends to continue to grow and evolve, always protecting the environment. The label uses only the finest natural materials, preferably organic and dyed with botanical extracts or ecological dyes. The eco-certified, biodegradable or recycled fabric selection includes chemical-free organic silk processed without synthetic additives, fish skin and apple peel, meticulously laser-cut to look like lace. As well as bamboo, a fabric with natural antibacterial properties, organic cotton, chemical-free natural pure cellulose, organic wool and hemp, one of most sustainable fibres to grow. Made for the Teatro Massimo in Palermo in Italy, the first eco-collection by Mateja was displayed for the first time to the public in a multi-brand store in Ljubljana in Slovenia. The brand has been positively received by press and buyers: amongst its many achievements, a showroom in Milan, press coverage in widely distributed magazines, a catwalk show at last April edition of Mercedes Benz Ljubjana Fashion Week. Because of the choice of raw materials, fair trade practices and eco-sustainable production, Matea Benedetti is a beneficial brand for our ecosystem.
