SEAQUAL™: a new eco-friendly fibre that comes from the bottom of the ocean

SEAQUAL™ :just as oceans are made of an infinite number of water drops, the road to sustainability can be created one step at the time.
By Roberto Iemmolo

The dual mission of Seaqual 4U has always been to create a quality polyester fibre and to help clear the oceans from plastic waste. A mission that has been accomplished by the Spanish company with the launch of Seaqual™, a completely new eco-friendly fibre derived from recycling marine waste. A glimmer of hope and a step forward for ecology, and also a wave of innovation, that was very well received at the November edition of the Mare di Moda trade show in Cannes, France, where specialised beachwear textile companies like Estilmar, Géneros de Punto Fabrés, Lemar, Oktex del Punto and Sofileta showcased their products entirely or partially made using Seaqual™. After the successful fashion partnerships with the likes of Textil Santanderina, A. Sampaio E Filhos Texteis, Fieratex and Gipitex, Seaqual
4U is now branching out in the beachwear segment with an aesthetic and environmental style that can only be provided by a fibre like Seaqual™. From the about 1500 fishermen collaborating with Seaqual 4U to the end consumers: an collective effort to help keeping the oceans and the seas clean with the help of a product with an unprecedented ecological footprint and the same qualities of a virgin polyester fibre.
