THE ETERNAL CITY TURNS GREEN

AN ALMOST SURREAL AUTUMNAL SITUATION IN ROME AMONG ANCIENT RUINS AND WITH AN ORCHESTRAL SOUNDTRACK WITH MUSICAL SCORES WRITTEN BY GREAT ARTISTS LIKE SCHUBERT

Held within such spectacular settings, the 6th edition of Green Fashion Week continued in its aim to create a path towards green fashion through the adoption of sustainable development models and systems. The fashion show calendar impressed over three thousand guests from all over the world including fashion designers and representatives from fashion schools, TV channels and the printed media. The Fori Imperiali provided the perfect background for catwalk shows, video projections and workshops, giving the opportunity to young creatives to address sustainable fashion without forgetting style and elegance and to showcase innovative ideas against the background of traditional Roman monuments. The iconic Westin Excelsior Rome Hotel in via Veneto was the location of the catwalk shows by the Italian brands Flavia La Rocca and Gentile Cato and the British label Bav Tailor. Promoted by the Italian Ministry of the Environment and attended by internationally renowned speakers, an interesting seminar programme accompanied the fashion show calendar. Among the many brands participating to the last edition of Green Fashion Week, Kromagnon from New York that uses sustainable, ethical and biodegradable natural resources to produce 100% organic cotton labels and 100% recycled paper tags and Exallo from Greece that manufactures 100% crafted bow belts in a solar powered laboratory. Royal Bush from Switzerland, Victoria Ladefoged from Denmark and Nomadic Collector from Costa Rica and many other exhibitors have chosen sustainability as a way of life by opting for natural materials, clean energy and ethical working conditions. Also present, Krie and Orushka that responded to a constantly evolving world with innovative collections like ‘Evolution of Sheep’ by Orushka. During the three day event, the guests had the opportunity to attend in the iconic Il Museo dei Fori Imperiali in the Mercati di Traiano the premiere of the documentary film Green Fashion Story by GD Major Movie Production as well other events including street fashion shows at the Spanish Steps, the Colosseum, Castel Sant’Angelo and the Circo Massimo.
