From the knowledge that, in the words of Lucretius, nothing can come from nothing – de nilo nil – today emerges Nilo, the first ethical and organic luxury yarn, created within the Cottonforlife initiative. A five-year structured program sponsored by Filmar Spa, with the objective of creating an entirely eco-friendly and socially responsible textile production chain.
Among other initiatives aimed at promoting the welfare of individuals and the environment, Cottonforlife launched the first cultivation of organic, extra-long fibre cotton in Egypt. Picked in the delta of the river from which it takes its name, in Kafr Saad, in the governorate of Damietta, Nilo cotton is grown in the lands mapped out by EOA (Egyptian Organic Agriculture) and grows precisely according to the natural methods of organic agriculture. It is picked by hand, without the use of defoliants and is ennobled and dyed with certified products and methods. Originating from a blend of precious Giza 45 and 87 varieties , this yarn is the authentic “soul of cotton”. It’s hand is tangibly soft, silky, and unique. Its six finenesses offer two wefts that are entirely different to the touch: one is more structured, and the other extra-soft. 36 colors are available for immediate delivery.
